This intervention by Portos Mobiliario, which built the real-scale pieces studied by the students of the University of Aveiro, was mediated by Moveltex, through the “Furniture of the Future” project, which seeks to connect companies in the furniture sector to the university and the introduction of technology in furniture pieces (Smart Furniture).
Portos Mobiliário, a company based in Figueiró, executed two pieces of furniture, which were the object of projects of the Master of “Engineering and Product Design”, of the students of the University of Aveiro, Liliana Teixeira and Rosa Mendes, whose public tests took place yesterday, at that University, obtaining the classification of Very Good.
Liliana Teixeira studied active aging and proposed an adapted closet/wardrobe in order to become more inclusive, under the theme “Smart Furniture Design for Ageing in Place”.
In turn, Rosa Mendes chose the theme “Smart furniture design for creating sleep habits in university students”, designing a bedside table, with various functionalities (from lighting, to motion sensors, through device charging, among others).
The works had the guidance of Prof. Bárbara Gabriel and Teresa Franqueira – (Director of Design Factory Aveiro).
